FYI for my Fellow Galileo Makers,
I'm using the Adafruit Ultimate GPS logger shield for GPS v3 on a Galileo GEN2 board and it works for me OK.
To get the NMEA messages, you do have to make a slight hardware modifications to the shield to get the TX and RX correct for the Galileo as the Galileo pins for IO0 and IO1 match the Arduino Leonardo pinout.
So if you follow the instructions at the Adafruit site on how to change the board for Leonardo operation, you can get it to work with the Galileo.
Also that board is listed on the "tested shields document" at the Galileo documentation page.
Here is the link (which also in this document mentions the modification you have to make)
Galileo and Galileo Gen 2 Shield Testing Report
NOTE: That in this report, it says that position and time haven't been fully tested. I can say that I'm using it and I get accurate position and time (including PPS pulse which I'm working on hooking up for use with NTP).
Cheers,
Alan
NOTE/Disclaimer: While I work for Intel, I do not work in the Galileo team nor the Yocto team, I work on a completely different/unrelated platform.
