I was having the same issue. I have a Dell XPS 14 with a 500G sata hdd and a 32 GB SSD. I re-installed Win7 on the HDD. I installed Intel RST but when I tried to reboot and enter bios to enable the RST mode for the SATA controller it would bluescreen. I finally solved the issue by booting with sata in AHCI mode:
1) Following directions here: Step-by-step guide to setting up SSD caching on Z68
- regedit to set Start to 0 at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Iastorv
- I was then able to reboot, go into bios, and enable RST mode for SATA
2) I reinstalled the Dell RST Driver (not application) - rebooted.
3) I reinstalled the Dell RST Application - rebooted
4) I finally was able to run the Intel RST Application in Windows and configure the acceleration using my SSD...
Man - this was crazy odd. I could never get Ctrl-I to work, but I finally have a working acceleration.
