What happens that results in the blackscreen failure? Installing new intel graphics driver [always]; After system start-up (on login screen) [sometimes]; When reactivating display (after it turns off because of inactivity) [sometimes]. |
After installing a new driver the black-screen is quite different from the others: the LCD seems to be flashing between black and white (but the blacklight stays off), and the system becomes unresponsive (can only shut it down by pressing the power button during 5 seconds). The simple workaround for the others is to turn off and on the screen (by pressing fn+f7).
Even though I'm currently using version 3071 of the driver, I have had the same issues with previous and more recent drivers. In fact, with driver 3345 it became worse: the screen flashes black when doing specific actions (like right clicking on the desktop or browsing through the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel), sometimes it really stays black (like the one that happens after system start-up) and I need to turn it off and on. This video shows it happening.
