Re: Intel, will you update 1st generation of Intel HD Graphics for Windows 8.1?

You can pretty much give up all hope of Intel updating drivers for their older products; unlike AMD or Nvidia, Intel is only concerned with products of the latest generation or occasionally one generation old. You can always try uninstalling the drivers and try reinstalling them in Windows 7 compatibility mode (go to the installer's Properties and set it there), but that can only do so much. If that doesn't work, you're out of luck, I'm afraid.

On the other hand, Microsoft claims that drivers made for Windows Vista should function properly with Windows 8/8.1/10, so maybe it's a problem on their end. I've personally encountered no problems when running a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 on Windows 8.1 32-bit using their legacy Vista driver. Then again, I've never tried any apps from the Store (and don't plan to) so I can't say how well it would work there.
