Just confirming that I am experiencing exactly the same problems. I have a choice between the old windows 8 driver which has artifacts in internet explorer, or the new driver which makes my laptop display go crazy (an external screen does however work fine)
I have a sony vaio pro 13 with Intel HD 4400
