Re: Can I use safely 2400 MHz RAM DDR3 with i7 4770K?

Any further word on this, please?

Due to a motherboard failure, I've just had to upgrade my i7 920 to an i7 4770 along with an Asus z87-k motherboard (because there were no replacement 1366 socket motherboards, joy).

Everything else from my 5 year old machine I've used... including the Corsair 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM, which is rated at 1.65v.

Unfortunately, I am encountering random, apparently stress-related* graphics glitching, freezing and crashes and having MemTested the RAM, checked the HD can only think that the problem is down to the voltage in these relatively old sticks (having read warnings elsewhere on the internet).

However, as stated above, Intel do specify that certain Corsair 1600Mhz 1.65v RAM sticks are ok,... just not the ones with my code (TR3XG1600C9).

Given I've already had to spend nearly £400 today to try and get my workstation back online, I'm obviously wary about buying brand new RAM on the off-chance that it's merely the voltage that's causing problems!

Any help would be much appreciated - my wee business has already been down for two days because of this catastrophe!

Thanks,
Ewen

* ie, sometimes when the machine's trying to do 'something' it falls over itself. Other times it just locks and/or glitches.
