Hey Propst,
I totally agree, looking at other platforms that use a lightweight version of ubuntu or Debian really makes sense in terms of the user experience. I love ubuntu on my virtual server. I'm not a linux expert so I can't comment yet on which versions of Linux the board is capable of supporting.
